Airport business park gets name, enplanements up in May

Colorado Springs Airport Deputy Aviation Director John Faulkner has confirmed that the Colorado Springs Airport Business Park will be called Cresterra.
The airport’s master developer, Corporate Office Properties Trust, also plans to use three additional names to cover industrial, office and golf course development on the 250-acre parcel.
Cresterra Business Park will describe the industrial and heavy development area. Commercial office buildings will be in the Cresterra Corporate Complex and the Cresterra Green Plex will encompass the park’s 18-hole golf course and related development.
In an effort to publicize the new branding effort, COPT plans to launch a Web site that will incorporate the Cresterra logo and will include new street names.
Also, a June report show that enplanements during May were the highest for that month since 2002 – thanks in large part to ExpressJet service, which will no longer be offered in Colorado Springs starting Sept. 1.
Colorado Springs Airport Advisory Committee accountant Mary McElderry credited the increased numbers to ExpressJet and Frontier. Allegiant, Northwest and United all showed modest gains.
At the same time, American, US Airways, Continental and Delta were down, but all have fewer flights and therefore fewer seats in the market.
Enplanements increased 5.2 percent from May 2007, and 7.3 percent year-to-date.
