County consolidates departments from 13 to four

The El Paso County Board of Commissioners has approved a plan to consolidate 13 departments into four in order to deal with a shrinking 2008/09 budget.
The consolidation also means that seven executive positions will be eliminated, 24 employees will be laid off and 41 vacant positions will be frozen indefinitely.

Mortenson wins Fort Carson contract

Mortenson Construction will begin work on a $20 million tactical equipment maintenance facility and an Engineering Squadron building at Fort Carson this fall.
