Bush puts freeze on Medicare cuts

The nation’s doctors can breathe a sigh of relief – at least until after the Independence Day break.
Although Congress failed to pass legislation that would stop 10 percent cuts in Medicare reimbursement rates, President George Bush agreed to freeze the rates at current levels until July 11. The cuts would have taken effect today.

City allows advertising on public sidewalks

City sidewalks, it appears, are for sale.
There are about 10 temporary Penrose Hospital advertisements glued to downtown sidewalks.
“This is certainly a first for us,” said city permit coordinator Sue Matz. “We’ve never had a request for any type of sidewalk advertising before.”

Maytag Aircraft wins DoD contract

Maytag Aircraft Corp. of Colorado Springs has won a $14.7 million contract for operation and maintenance services of bulk fuel facilities to serve Air Force installations in New Jersey, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.
