Medicare reimbursement bill dies

The U.S. Senate failed to pass legislation yesterday to halt reimbursement fees to physicians.
Without the legislation, rates will fall 10 percent July 1 for Medicare, TriCare and some commercial reimbursement fees. The bill would have increased fee reimbursement by 1.1 percent.
Health care analysts also expressed disappointment with yesterday’s vote.

IRS bumps driving reimbursement rate to 58.5 cents a mile

The Internal Revenue Service has increased the optional standard mileage rate to 58.5 cents a mile for deductible costs of driving for business purposes.
