NAHB pushes for housing stimulus bill
Published June 18, 2008 by CSBJ Staff
The National Association of Home Builders has issued a plea to its subcontractor, supplier, manufacturer and vendor members to join builders in lobbying Congress to support a pending housing stimulus bill.
So far the bipartisan-sponsored The Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008 has passed in the House and is moving toward final Senate action. The legislation is expected to pass prior to the Fourth of July recess.
“Congress needs to hear something critically important…real stories from the men and women representing both builder and associated businesses… Tell them about the record number of foreclosures, sluggish sales, and depressed home prices. Tell them about lost home equity and the impact it’s having on consumer confidence and the overall economy. Let them know about the tough decisions you’ve had to make as an employer, like laying off loyal workers or family members, to keep your business afloat,” the NAHB said in a statement. Those who want to support the organization may call a toll-free legislative hotline at 1-866-924-NAHB (6242) or visit builderlink@nahb.com.
