Mortgage loan uptick

A 10.9 percent increase in mortgage loan application volume for the week ending June 6 was boosted both by an 8.4 percent bump in refinance applications and a 12.8 percent upswing in new purchases, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Boomer mine purchased

Canadian mining company International Beryllium Corp. has acquired the Boomer mine in Park County.
The mine, which is near Lake George, about 50 miles west of Colorado Springs, was the second largest producing beryllium mine in the United States from 1948 until 1963 and was the largest beryllium ore producer in 1958.
