Burritos for Venetucci

Published June 6, 2008 by CSBJ Staff

Chipotle restaurants will host a fundraiser tomorrow at all seven of its Colorado Springs-area locations to benefit the Venetucci Farm, owned by the Pikes Peak Community Foundation.

The farm is the last farm still operating in the region. It promotes educational programs for all ages along with an annual “Pumpkins for Kids” giveaway.

The Chipotle group will donate 100 percent of sales, up to $10,000, generated between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. to benefit the Venetucci Farm. Funds raised will support educational programs for students to learn first-hand on the farm about sustainable agriculture, nutrition and cooking.

Regarding the Venetucci Farm and your comments that “It’s the last farm still operating in the region.” - that’s INcorrect. The Ferrara’s Happy Apple Farm is in operation and is a fresh-fruit-you-pick farm located south on Hwy. 115, about 27 miles south of Ft. Carson’s last gate and is located on K Street. This fresh fruit farm offers many varieties of apples, blackberries, strawberries, etc. that you can pick yourself.
