Gen Y not down with dressing up for work

Published May 21, 2008 by CSBJ Staff

The generation gap between executives and those entering the workforce might be evident on casual Fridays.
Ninety-three percent of executives surveyed by OfficeTeam said that a person’s style of dress at work influences his or her chances of earning a promotion.
However, only 4 percent of Generation Y, commonly classified as those born between 1977 and 1994 who are just entering the workforce, indicated that they favor wearing business attire in the office.
The vast majority of these workers prefer to dress in jeans and sneakers in the office.
