Mountains States Council releases health care findings

While overall health care costs in Colorado and Wyoming have risen 12 percent above 2007 levels, average premiums have risen 7 percent during the same period.

That’s according to the Mountain States Employers Council 2008 Health and Welfare Plans Survey.

Results also showed that employers still cover the majority of health premiums through employer-offered health care plans, picking up 85 percent of employee premiums.

The survey also showed continued interest by employers in offering consumer-driven health-care plans as an option in employees’ benefit packages, with 51 percent offering or considering consumer-driven plans such as Health Savings Accounts or Health Reimbursement Accounts.
