Realtors hint at brighter days ahead

Pikes Peak region Realtors are standing firm.
Contrary to trends elsewhere, membership in the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors remains close to 3,900. That figure was confirmed yesterday by Jay Gupta of Gloriod & Associates, chairman of the PPAR, during the organization’s monthly state-of-the-market report session.
“We have not seen any major drop in our membership, and are actually expecting to see 2008 sales volume on par with 2002 and 2003,” he said.
While inventories of unsold single-family homes remain 2 percent higher than a year ago, there was some good news. Gupta said new listings for April were down 9.8 percent from April 2007 – and down 8.8 percent on a year-to-date basis.
New condos and townhome listings also were down 13.9 percent during April, compared to last year.
