DMS returns to Colorado Springs

Diversified Machine Systems left Colorado Springs three years ago for what looked like greener pastures in Texas.
The company has now returned to the Springs due to what owner Patrick Boller called a “favorable economic climate.”
The company, which builds machinery for other manufacturers such as cars or guitars, has hired 38 people, with plans to increase employment to 90 in the future.
The company converted Bull Pen Building, an indoor baseball training venue, into their new manufacturing facility at 2310 Executive Circle Dr.
About 50 people attended an open house this morning to view the company’s facility and hear about its plans for Colorado Springs.
“DMS is an ideal company from our perspective,” said Mike Kazmierski, president and CEO of the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation. “A manufacturing headquarters with above-average wages is right at the top of our wish list.”
El Paso County Commissioner Jim Bensberg also spoke at the open house, noting that the county has surpassed Denver County in population.
“El Paso County also removed the onerous business personal property tax – a tax that other counties still have in place,” he said. “We believe this makes the county a very attractive place for business.”
