USA Cycling here to stay

USA Cycling announced today that it will stay in Colorado Springs, despite attempts by communities such as Ogden, Utah and Brownsville, Pa. to lure the national headquarters away.
CEO Steve Johnson credited the support of Nor’wood Development, which donated land and a building, the El Pomar Foundation and the collective efforts of the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp. and the Colorado Springs Sports Corp. for helping the organization secure new office space on the city’s north side.
“Without the contributions of so many generous individuals and organizations … it’s likely that USA Cycling would not have remained in Colorado,” Johnson said in a statement. “In the end, we are very pleased that we will continue to call Colorado Springs home for many years to come.”
The new headquarters will occupy a 26,000-square-foot building on nearly 2 acres near Interstate 25 at 5935 Delmonico Drive. Plans include a conference center, education and training facilities and office facilities for more than 60 employees.
USA Cycling currently occupies 13,000 square feet in two buildings on the Olympic Training Center campus. Its offices are in a building that will be razed during the next 12 to 18 months, cycling officials said.
