Coloradoans still plan international travel

The euro’s costly rise against the dollar combined with long airport security lines and flight delays may be daunting, but that’s not expected to stop Colorado’s international travelers.

AAA travel expects 508,000 Coloradans will travel internationally this summer, an increase of 3.6 percent compared to the 468,000 state residents estimated to have traveled overseas last summer.

Nationally, AAA projects 25.1 million Americans will be traveling internationally this summer, an increase of 2.6 percent over the 24.5 million compared to last summer.

The fastest-growing destinations are China and India which are expected to have a 13.4 percent and 13.1 percent increase, respectively, in international visitors.

But Canada and Mexico will see the largest amount of traveler spending, with Americans planning to spend $5.6 billion in Mexico and $4 billion in Canada.
