Springs jobless rate higher than national average

The labor department reported today that the nation’s unemployment rate dropped to 5 percent during April while a Colorado Springs unemployment survey from March puts the city’s jobless rate at 5.6 percent.
Nationally, April job losses totaled 20,000, an improvement from the 81,000 reductions in payrolls logged during March.
