Public invited to free CONO Neighborhood Forum

The Council of Neighborhoods and Organizations (CONO), the City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County are hosting the annual CONO Neighborhood Forum from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 at the Regional Development Center, 2880 International Circle.
Residents can visit about 50 different information booths hosted by local agencies and hear from a panel of experts about important community issues.
Speakers, who will address health and safety issues that are affecting the Pikes Peak Region, include Colorado Springs Police Chief Richard Myers, El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa, CEO and President of the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corp. and Chairman of the Citizens for Effective Government Mike Kazmierski, Vice-Mayor Larry Small; and El Paso County Public Health Administrator Rosemary Bakes-Martin.
Lenard Rioth, a local attorney will speak on current legislation that affects Home Owners Associations.
Residents can talk one-one-one with local experts about:
- Xeriscaping
- Water conservation and environmental sustainability
- Protecting your home from wildfire
- Emergency preparedness
- Code enforcement and land use issues
- How to protect yourself from identity theft
- How to get involved in local government
