No joke, comedy club deal a dud

The Wit’s End Comedy Club will not be coming to Colorado Avenue.

Mark Cunningham, owner of the renovated 15,300-square-foot complex that’s the former home of the Hide & Seek night club at 508 West Colorado Ave., said the deal for Wit’s End to move into the space has failed.

“They weren’t able to arrange appropriate financing”, he said, “so we called it off.”

The club had planned to occupy as much as half of the property. The complex remains vacant and Cunningham said he’s seeking new tenants.

I’m sad that Wit’s End couldn’t find enough financing to build a Comedy Corner Club in Colorado Springs. It would have given a lot of individuals the opportunity to show their talent locally rather then have to travel to Denver. It would have brought some top known comedians to the city as well as local talent performing here. Maybe someday the opportunity will come around again and a good humorous individual will decide to build a comedy corner right here in Colorado Springs because they love to laugh.

We get invitations to go FREE to the comedy corner that is already here in the springs on the eastside but we never go anymore. We sure wont go downtown to go to a different club. The parking and the crime will forever keep us from going downtown ever again. We used to be regulars on friday nights at cowboys when they were at rustic hills but now will never go simply because it is located downtown. Sad, sad situation the springs has got on its hands….
