SBA seeks ideas for lending portal

Published April 4, 2008 by CSBJ Staff

The Small Business Administration wants to establish a new e-commerce portal to help expand credit availability for businesses and give lenders increased access to potential small business customers.

SBA has issued a request for information from potential vendors about setting up a sustainable online lending portal to connect small business loan applicants with commercial lenders and lending products that would meet their needs.

No contracts will be awarded on the basis of the RFI. Some of the topics that need to be addressed in the RFI include: user friendliness and transparency, market coverage, privacy policy, pricing structure, revenue sharing, timeline and risks.

Responses must also provide general information about experience in providing services similar to those requested. All responses to the RFI must be submitted by April 28 via e-mail to Joanie.Newhart@sba.gov.

Loans are not the only way to fund a business in times of growth or survival. There are many debt free programs available. Non grant programs for b2b, b2gov, healthcare providers, sub contractors, and retailers. Why doesn’t the SBA list these types of programs?
