Published March 28, 2008 by CSBJ Staff

Health care spending is expected to grow at the same pace between last year’s levels and 2017 – a steady 6.7 percent a year.

That amount is anticipated to be higher than annual growth in both the overall economy (4.9 percent) and in general inflation (2.4 percent), according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicade Services.

Health care spending also is expected to increase to more than $4.3 trillion and comprise 19.5 percent of GDP by 2017.
