Allstate offers pine beetle reparations

Colorado’s forests might be getting a little safer.
An Allstate Insurance program will help repopulate Colorado pine forests that are stricken by mountain pine beetle infestations.
The Green pilot program offers insurance customers paperless bill paying and allows them to donate money to environmental causes. For each person that signs up for the Green program, Allstate donates $30 to the Arbor Day Foundation, which allows at least 15 trees to be planted.
During 2007, the pine beetle destroyed 500,000 new acres of Colorado pine forest. The total affected area exceeds 1.5 million acres. Dead and dying forests create conditions for wildfires.
