After six months of interim leadership, the Colorado Springs-based American Numismatic Association has named a new chief executive.

SHEPHERD
Larry Shepherd, a former banking and investment executive and owner of Simco Numismatics, in Cincinnati, Ohio, will become the organization’s new director following an intensive three-month search.
He replaces acting director and Colorado Springs resident Ken Hallenbeck, a past president of the national numismatic organization.
A total of 37 candidates applied to fill the position vacated in October 2007 by Chris Cipoletti.
ANA Board President Barry Stuppler said Shepherd’s selection was based both on his 18-year experience as a successful independent businessman and on his 25 years as an avid coin collector and ANA member.
