Retail sales surge, unemployment down

Retail sales surged by 1.2 percent last month, almost two times the increase that analysts had predicted, to reach the largest gain in six months, according to a Commerce Department report released today.

Census forms arrive next week

Next week more than 4 million American businesses will receive 2007 Economic Census forms.
The economic census is conducted every five years.
Business.census.gov lists information about the census, and provides statistics to use to assess and grow business operations.
This week, “Industry Snapshots” graphics for more than 1,000 industries were added to the site.
