The appropriations bill passed last night in the U.S. Senate contains more than $1.7 million for Colorado projects – none of which are local.

The projects include:

• $200,000 for Mercy Health Foundation in La Plata County to expand its primary care and prevention services
• $200,000 for Denver Health Medical Center in Denver to expand and upgrade their facility
• $100,000 for the Health District of Northern Larimer County to help build a mental and substance abuse treatment center
• $100,000 for St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver to help pay for its Mobile Mammography Program
• $200,000 for the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa to help purchase upgraded software
• $150,000 for the Steamboat Springs Visiting Nurse Association to help pay for capital improvements
• $50,000 for Aims Community College in Greeley to purchase equipment for its Allied Health and Science facility
• $200,000 for The Children’s Hospital to help with its re-location from downtown Denver
• $300,000 for CU-Denver Health Sciences Center to establish a Linda Crnic Institute for Research and Treatment of Down Syndrome
• $200,000 for the Colorado School of Mines in Golden to develop the Mine Safety and Rescue program
• $150,000 for Durango’s Fort Lewis College to create an entrepreneurship center

The bill will now go to a conference committee where it will be reconciled with the House version, but President George Bush said he plans to veto the bill.
