These are really sad times in Colorado Springs. I'll never understand why a city with such wonderful potential insists on being so self-destructive.

The Convention Center was shot down by the Broadmoor & their political machine lead by Steve Durham. THEIR self-interest trumped anything else ...especially making downtown more than a "Bar Scene."

Yea and we could have built the USOC a wonderful hall of fame adjacent to a convention center and America the Beautiful park a few years back. But the wonderful voters of our city shot that down. If we lost the USOC who would be next? The National Governing Bodies may follow suit. What about tourism? The people of the Springs need to wake up smell the coffee...burning. We need to invest in our city if we ever really plan to grow up.

It looks like Colorado Springs is going to drop the ball again. I wish the city would treat issues with the urgency they require. We continually find ourselves in a state of reactionary politics as opposed to addressing issues retroactively. I have a feeling our city will continue to play catchup for many years to come unless something drastic happens. Maybe this is just what we needed. <br/>Wes Nagel
