Cimarron contract goes to Lawrence Construction

City officials have awarded the reconstruction contract for the Cimarron Street bridge to Lawrence Construction, which is also working on the Austin Bluffs Parkway and Union Boulevard overpass.

The Cimarron Bridge replacement project is estimated to cost $6.5 million.

Work is expected to begin sometime this month – on the heels of the opening of the Bijou Street bridge over Interstate 25. The Cimarron bridge is expected to stay closed for months during construction.

Lanes on the bridge were closed after chunks of concrete began to crumble, leaving gaping holes in the pavement.
