Love the idea of a roundabout called Palmer Circle-our very own mini version of Dupont Circle.

Ok, ok-maybe a roundabout isn't practical. But why not simply prohibit left turns? That'd make the intersection far less accident-prone.

And Alex, love your idea! Except what about high winds, blizzards, and the inevitable tragic statue fall??!!

Perhaps we could remove the pedestal that the horse is on, but keep the statue itself in place, hovering above traffic, suspended by cables from gargantuan but majestic pylons on each of the four corners.

if a large truck needs to come through, the statue could be raised like some kind of equestrian drawbridge.

it could also be raised during homecoming to prevent graffiti neckties and spray-paint inflamations.

Can you even imagine having a roundabout with all the students constantly trying to cross the street? Cars would never get anywhere...especially during lunch time.
